Gambling education materials for young people for 13-19 year olds
Just Another Game? is aimed at 13-19 year olds in the more informal education settings, such as youth work. The materials have been developed by young people for young people, working in partnership with the Darlington Youth Service and Oldham Peacemakers.
Just Another Game? contains:
12 sessions for young people aged 13-19 years on:
exploring what young people understand by the term gambling, issues relating to fruit machines and friendship, national lottery and scratch cards, internet gambling, betting at the bookies, risk taking behaviour, budgeting, money management and debt, positive and negative effects, problems which may arise from gambling and identifying the signs someone has a problem and strategies to address this12 icebreakers to use with young people
19 photocopiable handouts for use with young people in the sessions
12 flash cards: photographs with questions of young people in gambling related situations
an Open College Network (OCN) Accredited Course Pack in gambling
12 ‘reel deal’ information cards for young people
2 background papers on young people’s gambling
2 appendices containing further information for young people, professionals and parents/carers
a CD Rom containing information about gambling, all the photographs and all the handouts.
